This policy explains what the Miss Miao app (喵老師) does with information. The app is published by Orango Labs Ltd, 111 New Union Street, Coventry, England, CV1 2NT (“we”). It is made for young children to use with a parent, so we collect as little as possible.
What stays on your device
Child profiles (the name or nickname you enter), stars, stickers, progress, settings and the parent passcode are stored only on your device. We do not have an account system and do not receive this information.
Voice recordings
When your child answers a mock-interview, look-and-tell or word-reading activity out loud, the app records the answer. The recording is sent over an encrypted connection, through Google Firebase AI Logic, to Google’s Gemini model together with the question, the child’s age band, the scoring rubric and a model answer. It is used only to hear what was said and to score it. Pictures shown in the app and your child’s name are never sent.
We do not keep recordings on our own servers and never use them for advertising or profiling. Word-reading clips are deleted from the device as soon as they have been read. Google processes requests as our service provider under its own terms.
Read-aloud audio
Longer prompts, feedback and bedtime stories are turned into speech by our cloud function on Google Cloud. Only the text shown on screen (questions, stories and the written feedback) is sent for this — never a recording. Short word pronunciations are generated on the device.
App security
We use Firebase App Check, which relies on Apple App Attest / DeviceCheck or Google Play Integrity, to confirm that requests to our services come from the genuine app. This involves a device attestation token, not personal information.
Purchases
Subscriptions are sold by Apple or Google. We use RevenueCat to check which subscription is active; it receives purchase receipts and a random app user ID. We never see payment card details.
What we do not do
The app shows no advertising, contains no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, does not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not sell or share personal information.
WhatsApp stickers
If you choose to add a sticker pack to WhatsApp, the sticker images are handed to WhatsApp on your device. Nothing else is shared.
Children
The app is intended to be set up by a parent or guardian. Parent settings are protected by Face ID, Touch ID or a passcode. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond what is described above. If you believe we hold information about your child, contact us and we will delete it.
Keeping and deleting data
Deleting the app removes everything stored on the device. Because we do not keep recordings or profiles on our servers, there is nothing further to delete; you can still contact us with any request about your data.
